I have see a few people do this mod. so I thought I would give it a go.
I got an old take off air cleaner cover from a friend and cut it up to fit the S&S air cleaner to my liking and then powder coated it black.
I got two replacement inserts off of ebay awhile ago and used one on here.

I just got the Gen 2 LED Daymaker knockoff headlight off of Ebay this week.
This light fit perfectly there was no modifications at all to make it fit.

This light is almost identical to the H-D version it even came with instructions that are word for word identical to the H-D light.

I have not yet ridden the bike to see the improvement that was made with this light, but turning it on in the garage was very impressive.

For me it is hard to justify paying $550.00(Canadian retail price) for the HD one.
This one cost me $97.00 (Canadian) shipped to my door.
It will defanatly improve being seen durring the daytime.
I tend to try not to ride at night on long bike trips, I have seen alot of wildlife come out of nowhere at night, but on the odd day trip we do get home later at night so this should help light the way.

Just a little review/opinion/comparison on this L.E.D. headlight.

Just after I installed this light ,we end up just by pure luck , have two bikes come into the shop that had different brand L.E.D. headlights in them so I was able to compare them against each other.

The three 5-3/4" lights that were compared are:

Mine, the ebay knock off Gen 2 style.

A Gen 1 knock off that appears to be like the Moon MC version with the "spider" in the face plate.

The last one is the real deal H-D Gen1 Daymaker.

In my opinion the light pattern on all of them was virtually the same.

I am very impressed with the knock off that I got off of ebay, an absolute steal at the price I paid. Money well spent and saved all at the same time.

I didn't take any photos because there are enough of those on here and there are so many variables when trying to take pictures of "light", that a picture just does not do it justice.

Hey Dale
Was it a direct plug and play light? did you have to buy a flicker control.... or just pop in?

Yes it was. Just changed the light out and that was it. Nothing else needed.

You mind sharing the eBay link for the light? Lot of options and would be great to purchase from the seller you went with. DM it to me if you prefer.

Is the air cleaner cover you made much larger than the outside diameter of the air cleaner? Interested to see how it looks from a side view up and down the bike.

Looks great!
