I'm getting ready to pull the plug on some 16" apes for my Wide Glide...the bars I'm deciding among all step down to 1" in the mounting area and my stock risers are 1 1/4, so new risers are going to be needed.
I've read some info that says a one piece top clamp should be used for higher bars, but I've noticed in a lot of the ape pics on this site, guys are running the two piece risers. Anybody have any input pro or con, one way or the other?
Thanks in advance!
Good point - forgot to add, I was going to go with 1 1/2" risers.
Just read in a few places (Wild1 website for one) to use a one piece clamp, but I'd rather use two so I can easily mount my power vision unit on occasion...
I went with the "Alloy Arts Bone" risers with my 15" bars and am happy. They are 1" tall with a 1" clamp area. I did need to drop my fork tubes slightly for clearance. With bars that are stepped down in the clamp area, I think the one piece top clamps look way better.

I have run my 16" apes with the stock 2" risers and one piece top clamp and am now running 4" risers with separate top clamps. Didn't notice any difference from one to another. Some people think the one piece clamps bite more surface of the handlebar. But they don't they only bite the same area as the riser.

Reason: pic
Are you doing chrome or black? I have a set of chrome 1.25" diameter risers that came stock on my '13 Fatboy Lo. Make me an offer. I have them in the Softail Parts section.
Running 18" apes with individual clamps. No issues so far with a couple thousand miles on this setup. You will definitely want to go with poly bushings in the triple clamp.
