I'm no mech but I do my own work, Looking at replacing mine because that stupid rubber seal/plug started leaking. I know newer stators come with a new improved seal but would like to look at other options/opinions as well. I did the clean and injected some RTV temp fix, So far not leaking anymore but for how long?...
in both failed units the circuit went open with a break in the magnet wire and no longer generated Alternating Current. Basically the stator puts out AC rectified by a diode bridge in your voltage regulator to rectify AC to DC. Start with the manual which I believe asks you to connect a multimeter between each of the stator leads. for AC. Root cause for stator failure is usually a break in the heavy copper magnet wire wrapped on the stator segments, a break in 1 of the wires, or a bad connector.

Thanks....I have low charging voltage. Barely acceptable at 13.7.
I need to test out the stator plug as per the manual and see what ac voltage comes out per the various Rpm's.
