Mine requires the FOB to be about 6 feet away from the bike or it will still start. I have the security system that automatically arms though so it might be different.
I got a 05 harley davidson dana lowrider. Went you press the fob to arm the lights flash but you can still start it.
When you turn your bike off, remove the key and just walk away a short distance to watch it. The alarm system should arm itself. Then try to restart it. You will obviously have to use the key, but don't press the fob button. It shouldn't start, but will probably howl at ya!
