Brake light stays on all the time. Both filaments in bulb are lit up all the time, makes no difference when applying front or rear brake. Replaced brake light switch, didn't change a thing. Any ideas? It's a 2011 Ultra.
This happened to me on my Nightster last week after I changed the bars. It seemed I snapped off this little plastic nipple on the lever portion of the brake light switch. The switch is normally pushed in and when its released thats when the brake lights are ignited. Basically the little nipple wasnt far enough out to be pushed in by the lever. Maybe that helps?
I had the same issue after changing bars as well. I ended up sliding a thin flat washer between the lever and piston which pushed the lever out just enough to turn the brake light off. It's easy to check, just push the lever out (away from the bars) and see if it goes out.
I'll take a look in the morning. Haven't done anything with the bars other than add heated grips and that was 20k miles ago. I did change out stereo, speakers and add an amp. Wife seems to think that it all started when I did that but I never realized it.
First ez check would be to pull 1 of the wires from the rear master cylinder pressure switch to see if it goes off before messing with the front switch.
The front's a PITA to replace.
Just a suggestion.

Yep, absolutely the front is a pain, I just think the simple test of pushing the front lever out with your fingertips would be a good starting point, if it turns the brake light off you know that's the problem. Only takes two seconds, but I guess it's just a process of elimination isn't it. Sent from my iPhone using IB AutoGroup

John,
You can unplug the connector to the switches and ohm out the switch, Right Handle Controls connector 22 or the rear brake switch which I think you replaced. If neither is stuck closed pull the connector at the light #93 and see where you have 12 V. Could also be a ground issue?
Good luck
Bill
Been busy working, on my 6th of 7 days straight right now. I've done all I can with my limited knowledge but still can't figure it out. Will stop by one of our local shops in the next week and have them check it out.
