Default 07 Electra - Electrical Issues

I might just have a weak going bad battery, but still I would like to consult here and see what you guys think.

I recently got my bike, and I have been notice that two things, first at times it is a bit hesitant to turn on, and once it does turns on the check engine light stays one for a little too long that I think it should and eventually it does go off.

The next symptom I have been noticing is that every time it rains seems like the power goes out on the bike and my radio clock resets. Note that I try not to ride on the rain or let the bike soak under a down pour, when ever I know it might rain I park the bike and put the cover on, but still it does the same thing.

This past week we had one day that it rain the whole day, straight hours of pouring rain. Not only I had the bike cover on, I also threw a tarp on top, the bike was moist, but not wet.

Now the bike won't turn on at all, either battery is dead or there is a short some where.

I notice there is a battery tender type of plug facing on of the bags in the rear, I will put tender there to see if you will charge the bike. But even if the battery is just dead and the bike does turn on, the issue remains, why is the power to the radio cuts off every time it rains?

I do have a jump box that I could use to get it started, I wonder if I could just plug it in to the started bolt that is facing out, so that i don't have to start removing stuff to find the battery?

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I'd start with the battery. Take it to an auto parts store for a check.

Also, you might have an intermittent short or open that's humidity sensitive. You may need to go through the wiring with a meter.

My guess is that you have a ground that opens somewhere. May also be the ignition switch, but I would hunt down grounds first. Also check main circuit breaker, and relays.
