Default Trouble finding specific wired connector.

Hi all,

Per an earlier post, I am trying to track down an electrical issue, and now have a different question about ordering parts.

I think I may have a compromised wire in the part that connects the main harness under the seat to the fuel pump module connector that is under the console on the fuel tank. If I were able to buy just that wired connective part, it would be incredibly easy to swap it out, as it is simply a connector on both ends. I have looked all through the parts lists and diagrams, however, and cannot find that wire connector. Are such connectors standard parts available for purchase, to does it just not work that way? I think I have found similar parts for other Harley's, just not my 2012 FXS (Blackline).

Any leads appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

You need a Service Manual - in the manual there is a section for connectors by location and the type they are. There is also a section showing how to disassemble them. With that you can search for replacement connectors/pins as they are not unique to Harley but in my experience the Harley dealer keeps many types on hand for their repair shop. Anything inside the fuel tank I would be safe and purchase from Harley only.

See here for listings of the connectors and part numbers

Thanks GalvTexGuy.

If I'm not mistaken, that is the harness that connects the pump to the top plate connector. I am looking for the harness that runs from the top plate to the main harness, where it connects under the seat. Let me know if you think I have that wrong.

Thanks mesa.

I have the Service Manual. I was hoping not to mess with disassembling the harness, etc., but it looks like that is probably what I will have to do. Thanks for the video - very helpful.

Yes, I think you're right! Or, at least, mine is a non-ABS model, so it is indicated as 94/96 in the same diagram for non-ABS. I have no idea how to translate that information into ordering the relevant harness, however. I don't see a part number indicated for 94/96. Thanks much for helping me work through this.

Thanks,

Bill

Unfortunately, #94/96 seems to be a part of the main harness that is not available individually. If it were, it would have a blue square around it like #60. A different parts finder may yield different results.
