I keep an Optimiser trickle charger on my bike when I’m not riding but it got turned off over winter and I didn’t realise. As a result my battery went flat. It’s done well - it’s at least 6 years old!!
I’ve charged it up again and it gets up to full voltage after a couple of hours. Immediately after charging, the bike starts first time and the voltage across
the battery sits around 14.5V while idling.
However, the voltage quickly drops once the bike is turned off and after it’s down to about 12V - and 6V or 7V when it try to start.
Given all this my assumption is that the charging/starting systems are fine but the battery is goosed and no longer holding a charge.
Anyone think otherwise before I order a new battery?
