Default Quick question on Tach wiring

Where the best place to connect to the Tach signal wire. I have an 06 Deluxe EFI . Don't want to take any unnecessary chances. Thanks

Need some more info: was the tach stock, or add on; guessing you have the 88 TC? Do you have the service manual?

Its an add-on. My manual doesn't list a "signal" wire. I'm assuming it means a + connection, but want to make sure before I go further . Yellow/Black

Tach comes off ECM, that tach you have is an analog tach and incompatible with EFI bikes. You need one that will have a Y splitter from the speedo or get the HD speedo with a tach on it.

I think you are trying to say the Tach needs to interface to the serial bus to get RPMs.. As far as I can tell the 06 ECM still has a Tachometer output which should be 1 pulse per rev.

The tach signal is already at the speedo connector even though the wiring diagrams do not show a wire from the ECM pin 3 but it is a digital output signal not a ppm signal as you would get from the coil connection. There is not a good point to tie into the BE/O wire on the coil to get an analog tach signal.

Well, if that's the case the y cable to the coil primaries is the only answer for that tach.

I can make the splitter with a couple resistors and diodes. I will try the signal hook up qt the ECM.

The tach signal wire is usually pink if that helps.
