Default Tail / Brake light wiring

Hi I need some help guys with wiring up of an aftermarket Tombstone rear light assembly complete with passing lights.

The old rear light ha4ness which I hav3 lef5 in place has 4 wires...Red, Black & Blue also had a Mauve wire which is cut and not connected.

The new after market tombstone assembly has 2 wires each side (Red & Black) for the passing lights left and right.

The Brake / Running light has a dual filament bulb but only 2 wires, one Red and One Black.

If I connect battery to the red black of the tail light it illuminates.....same for the passing lights...

I think the passing lights are pretty straight forward......but the dual tail / brake light not so ....there’s where i need the help please.

You need to clarify what you are talking about...

Passing lights are on the front of the motorcycle.

I think he's got the tombstone with the turns attached.
It also seems that you're missing a wire to the dual filament bulb.

Maybe so, but he needs to be accurate in his questions, and put a bit of effort in to communicating.

This type stuff is not the way to describe an issue.

Default Effort Communicating

[QUOTE=Dan89FLSTC;19467148]Maybe so, but he needs to be accurate in his questions, and put a bit of effort in to communicating.

Wow Dan.....that’s a bit of a statement.

Firstly I am not from the USA i am from across the pond where we don’t call indicators passing lights. So my mistake. We have indicators on both the front and the rear. So what do you call the indicators on the back of the bike if they are not passing lights. Seems logical to me but what do I know.

After some further research I have solved the wiring problem.

The Tombstone rear light assembly with indicators has One Red and One Black wire to each indicator. The indicator bulbs are dual filament. So meaning one part of the bulb blinks via the red wire and the other part is a running light via the black wire. We don’t ever have that setup across here after 55 years of riding I have never come it before.

The Tail Light / Brake light combo again has one black and one red wire. The red is the brake light and the black is the running light. From the Harley Heritage FLSTC existing wiring harness I connected red to red and blue to black.

i daisy collected all the black running wires together and connected them to the blue wire from the harnes.

The Tombstone assembly needs to be earthed, so i chose back to the battery terminal.
Job done.

i thank you all for your help. I promise to try and communicate better in future Dan 😂

It’s very very unusual for any automotive light manufacturer to use black for anything else but ground (negative).
Unless the wires are going to be visible.
