Installed the Reckless fairing yesterday. Followed directions to the letter. After tapping into the Orange/white wire for the ignition wire from the quick disconnect supplied my speedo and odometer lights stay on even with everything off.
Funny thing is Reckless tech told me to take tap off and put their ignition wire and the positive wire together and attach to positive together. When I did that I lost all power to bike and only thing working was the fairing. So I put it back the way it was originally and and bike starts, lights up and power again.
Maybe the Orange/white wire isnt the right wire to ta into on my 2004 softail??
But why after removing the tap connector and covering the small break in the wire with heat shrink and tape I didnt have ANY power to bike?
will the speedo light drag the battery down? Only way I can get it to go out is pull plug under dash... but I need my odometer for fuel range.
I've wired several reckless fairings but always tie them in under the seat to the aux plug....I will send me your email and I will send you a wiring diagram
Found problem to the speedo/odometer light staying on. Really wasnt anything to do with the fairing install. Seems somehow there was a break in one of the wires under the dash. Sealed it up and all is good now.
