Scott, i'd like your input. I'm considering changing cams only this next year on my '16 Wide Glide with a 103HO, and V&H 2into2 Big Radius pipes. The 2 different cams i'm looking at are S&S 583, and the 585. I'm not wanting to loose any bottom end over the stock cams, and would the S&S 585 keep my bottom end and give me a little more up top? It's a bone stock 103 except for the pipes and a tune. Thanks for your input.
common mistake we get all the time from riders.the 583`s & 585`s are two completely different cams.while the 583`s are very nice for low & midrange at moderate compression (we set them @ 9.8-1),the 585`s are more of a hotrod, high RPM cam with compression set at a minimum of 10.5-1.
Thank you to ALL of you guys that replied!! I really appreciate all the info I received, and when I went back and reviewed the info on the 585's, well let's just say I may have had 1 to many when I read S&S's info. Like Dave said the MR103 looks a lot more like what i'm after. Is there another brand of cams and specific part # any of you guys would suggest over the S&S 583 or MR103 on a bone stock 103 other than pipes? If not, would the 583 or MR103 be the best? Thank you guys again for your input.

Excuse me if I have a chuckle at that! My S&S V107T Evo came stock with a 585 and CR of 9.5:1. Pulls like a freight train with a wide flat torque curve and is a great ride. I'm sure you chaps could wake it up a lot more, but with the Atlantic in the way it will have to stay as it is.
chuckle all ya want pal.585 cams set at 9.5-1 will be flat as hell,REALLY flat on the bottom and with compression that low, wont make any real power in higher RPM`s either. try bumping the compression up to 10.5-1.im sure S&S has the compression that low for EPA regs

Well it ain't that flat, which is the point I'm making! And it isn't an EPA engine.
