Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
There are few parts if any that could or can be inter-changed between the two models. The biggest drawback is one is called a Twin Cam for a reason and the other is designed around a single cam set-up.
I'm no mechanical engineer but I continue to wonder about the "adjusted for life of vehicle" thing works for valve seat recession using one pushrod and forked rockers with no adjustment (especially the exhaust valves). Time will tell I guess.
I'm betting they can be made to work, but it will take some effort.
Not sure if the cylinder stud spacing is the same, but I'm betting a good machinist could retap a TC short block to fit M8 cylinders and heads. Oil passages might be a challenge, not sure how different a M8 is there. Custom pistons would probably be needed to fit TC connecting rods and M8 combustion chambers. I'm not sure how pushrod angle would work.
Not sure it would be worth the effort, but I'd like to see someone do it.

You probably have .2 on the lifter. You wear the top end .025 and the engine would be long trash way before that.
