Max Headflow, definitely know who the man is. actually first got to meet him several times in his NHRA days, but thats a different story.... way it stands right now, carb has 190 main, 70 pilot and a 67 needle in the third notch, if i read them right. getting hard to see them tiny numbers anymore. eyes catching up with my age....., heads a SE heads, have been ported and worked to those cams and carb, or so i was told when i received all the paperwork on the motor.... have plans to dyno but will be later, hard to get dyno time in the bottom of rural West Virginia without driving several hrs......................Hillsidecycle, 48 is a monster. thought it was overkill myself but if the man says 48, bike gets a 48

you say it's running too rich ....how do you know ...and where it is rich at ...???
at idle , black smoke when blipping the throttle ...off idle when leaving out ...mid range ...etc ..how much higher in elevation are you from where the bike was last tuned ..???...etc
try turning the accel pump off or way down to check slow jet ...what's the plugs look like ...(must start with new ones and check starting and idle and off idle response)...
if you are running it inside a garage closed up ...it will run rich also ...more so than just out side the door in fresh air....

Springers4ever,,,,, just purchased bike from a local friend.... bike is definitely running rich. turns plugs black quickly and burns the eyes when running. havent had time to do much more than bring it home and give it a once over because of work and weather. hope to get started on it end of the week or first of next week
48 Mik's are usually set aside for 117"-124" carbed combo's.
If the pinch point of the intake tract is to use the 48, then the huge heads(flow numbers?)are going to slurp the low-end torque, right off the plate, in spite of the low-mid range torque producing 6H cam grind, imho after using Wood cams for 20 years, racing AHDRA, ECRA, with Maxton Mile records, and building HD engines now for over 30 years.
