Time to upgrade my 103ho
I am wondering if this tireshredder kit has better quality components than the kit you used or if that 585 was not the right profile cam.
I think the 585 combined with the higher compression pistons and different heads was too much.
my CCP was 212.
I agree don't be afraid to talk to a builder and see what kind of kit they can put together for your needs.
Hillside redid everything lots of torque now.
cost about the same.
Two totally different outcomes.. same money spent. On each kit.
one was tailored to me the other was tailored to the mass market.
You mind saying who the 4 grand kit came from? Looking at doing this now, if you don't want to say publicly PM me. Thanks
After all the input I got here (Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!), and multiple conversations with Scott at Hillside Cycles, I decided to get the S&S 110 conversion kit, S&S 570 cams, head and throttle body work from Hillside (Stage II on the heads). Total time in the shop was 6 weeks. Extra time due to the guy doing the wrenching being out for a week right in the middle of everything.
S&S has very specific break in requirements. First firing includes simply cycling the engine on and off, heating and cooling.... then first 50 miles under 2500 rpm, no lugging, no hard pulls and then oil change. Then first 500 under 3500... no highway miles... no lugging, then another oil change.
Once I have another 500 miles on it the break in period will be complete and I can put it on the dyno.
I'm not sure what the numbers will be, but I know this... this is a completely different bike! Just rolling on the throttle without jumping on it at all I can tell that it is unbelievably more responsive. Providing the weather allows it, I should have the final 500 break in miles on it in a couple of weeks and I'll gladly post the dyno numbers. Preliminarily, I'll tell you that I spent about $4500 and right now I'd say it was worth every penny.... I also have to say that Scott up at Hillside was enormously helpful and I would encourage anyone thinking of upgrades like this to call and talk with him.

Break in is done and put it on the dyno today.
Before: HP = 81; Torque = 99
After: HP = 117; Torque = 126
