Default Sputter

I have an 03 Electra Glide.., when riding it spitters sometime and the check engine light comes on and then goes out after a few. I changed the fuel filter and still does it. Seems like less often but not sure what to check next. Should I check the plugs..., current plugs and wires were changed in the last year. I would appreciate and input

Check the wires to the front injector connector. They break inside the insulation. They may appear a bit narrower. Try to push and pull on the wires with the bike running on the side stand and see if it misses.

Your symptom is identical to how mine started.

You can also Google how to pull codes without a scan tool to see what codes are in memory.

A check engine light that comes on and then goes off, or stays on after starting and then goes off is a sign of a historic code. In your case I think it means it is an intermittent problem, but a code should be stored.

IDK if a historic code pops up in the speedo or if they are only active codes. Most flash base tuners and devices like Twin scan have the ability to pull active and historic codes.

Edited to add. Flash base tuners that are locked to another bike will still work for this. So, the question is what kind of tuner do you or your buddies have?

Was the check engine light on before you checked codes? You may have to catch it while it's acting up, as Hardtiail has said not sure if flashing will display inactive codes. My instinct tells me you have an intermittent electrical issue that you may need better diagnostic capabilities than reading codes through speedo. As has already been suggested you may want to have the bike running and just go through and wiggle the wires and connections that you can reach and see if you can get it to happen, then you will know where to start looking. As always with any electrical issue check all of your grounds to make sure they are clean and tight. Good luck!
