I put an s&s crank in my softail cases, along with the rest of the 124 kit. Its great.
You do the install yourself? I've done quite a few big bore kits but haven't went into a bottom end yet. Kinda thinking on sending it off for machine work and get the heads touched up a bit then do the install myself. Would have to buy a couple more tools, but I'm sure they'd get used again

I had a friend who owns a shop do the whole deal. Extended warranty paid 2200 bucks and i picked up the rest toward the 124, the barnett clutch, tbody and a/c .
If you’re going to have the Timken bearings installed then it’d be best left to a shop to set them up. You will need a press to remove and special tools to install the crank, and you will have to do both when setting up the spacers to determine the proper end play. If your just adding the SE lefty roller bearing, your fine.

This is what I'm debating. I have a press and don't have a problem buying the tools, I'll most likely buy them eventually anyway. Scott came up with a pretty solid plan for me though. This bike needs to be in a show coming up next month so I've got a little time to determine the direction to go
Hillside built me a 124 for my 2013 RG, a Christmas present from the wife, took it up 11/28 went and got it back just before Christmas. I also studied and thought about doing a 110 myself and all that for a month or so. I'm (we) are happy that we had Hillside do the work, I'm coming up on my first oil change at 500 miles after waiting what seemed like a year to ride it. It is incredible, runs smooth and riding 2 up when I want to pass it's like a rocket. They did the 124, S&S crank, S&S 585 cams, stage IV heads, 58mm tb, along with the other stuff we needed to put that power to the pavement. We're very pleased with the out come. Scott did a dyno break in for me with a tune I got from Fuel moto for a SS LC 124 for my power vision, I've done 6 auto tune with target tune runs just in the lower rpms (haven't had it over 4500 yet) it runs great. When we picked it up Scott had it on the dyno, did a test run I believe he said a 4th gear pull 127HP/145TQ. I can't wait to get that first 1000 miles, then we'll see what it's like spin that baby up.
