2018 Street Glide CVO
When riding at normal speeds of 45 mph for only 10 minutes when stopped at a light the engine seems very hot and 1 cylinder shuts down and starts pumping air.
I traded up from a 2015 Street Glide Special and it did not have this issue.
Is this normal for this performance motor?
Its a new bike so the engine is still tight. After a few thousand miles it will break in and cool down some. The pumping air when stopped is the EITMS or Engine Idle Temperature Management System. It can be enabled or disabled. Look in the owners manual and read all about it. a good idea to read thru the entire manual and get familiar with your new bike. Enjoy your new bike.

Reason: not sure why the bold type
Even a bone stock bike can benefit from a good tune. The EPA map has these things very lean from the factory. A quality tune may cure this issue. I'm not an expert but the EITMS kicking in so easily even on a new bike doesn't seem right. But, the previous poster may very well be right, it may subside after logging some more miles.
For what it's worth, my EITMS is non-existent after a solid tune, and adding head fans.
As scott7d pointed out, even a stock bike can take advantage of a good tune.
It WILL cool things off, and additional power will also be a benefit.
