I just did a 255 cam install in the 96" with stage 1 intake and Bassani true duals. The bike is not running well and I have been autotuning the crap out of it and it seems to be improving, but it has a lot less jump than it had with the stock cams and it has a pretty substantial shudder at low/idle rpms (like it wants to shake apart). The compression test shows the rear at 196 and the front at 205. Im concerned with whether I somehow installed the cams with a tooth off and if this compression test reveals anything. The bike fires right up and runs but is not performing nearly as well as it should. The MAP and log were sent to FM yesterday and Im hoping to hear from them soon.
Again, my concern is I somehow missed a tooth on what would probably be the front cam...it seems to be a little rich on the front.
Any help will be appreciated. I just may go ahead and pull the cams out to check but I would like to avoid that if possible.
Thanks!
I was also provided a map from FM for my set up and it's spot on. Don't think there's the potential to mix up the o2 sensors on an 09 either. Perhaps it is the tooth alignment. I can also probably tell you that your exhaust isn't doing you any justice either.
Yeah, you are probably right about the exhaust...gonna change up this winter but just cant swing it right now. I did a few autotunes on the bike with the stock cams and it really snapped it up, then of course I immediately took those cams out and put the 255's in. I am waiting to see what FM says and I may just take a look at the cams tomorrow so I can sleep well. I aslo dont understand how the O2 sensors can possibly be connected backwards and I cant locate the plugs under the side cover. I would imagine if I disconnected one of them I would get message on the tuner as to which one is not connected/sending.
Sounds like a tuning issue. If cams were a tooth off, I think the compression variance between cylinders would be close to 30psi. If a dyno tuner is nearby, spend the money on a proper tune. I would also be checking the injector wiring for loose or broken wires. Are push rods installed and adjusted properly?
