Electrical failure 1988 flsth

Motorcycle experiences full electrical failure (not even dash lights) after 2 mi at 50 plus mph. After 2 mins of rest bike will restart . Stator out put is correct-new voltage regulator, ignition .
any thoughts are appreciated

I just had hot wire to ignition failure and it was hard to find. Was right at the neck where it bends all the time. When I went to pull the wire threw with the old wire it broke, could tell only few strands where in tact and others would make contact some times.
