I re-installed the front rocker box and pushrods and a funny thing happened. As I got all the bolts snugged good I checked to see if I could spin the front pushrods so I put them on the base circle and only the exhaust would spin. The intake would not so I tried several more times putting them on the base circle with the same result. I then did this to the rear cylinder and both pushrods were able to be spun. Double and triple checked and same result. I then got to thinking; maybe the pushrods were swapped because stupid me didn't mark them when I pulled them out initially. Effin' dummy.
So, I pulled the rear rocker box and pulled both pushrods out noting where they were positioned. Here is the result for both rear and front the way I had it set up:
I used the allen as a straight edge, not perfect but close enough for this....
So in order from left to right; rear exhaust, rear intake, front intake, front exhaust. All different sizes.
Now my logic for fixing my screw up is this; Since the rear pushrods spun on the base circle and only the front exhaust spun on base circle, I'm concluding that the intake pushrods need to be swapped then installed. Once buttoned up all pushrods should then spin on there respective base circle. The only change to the heads was Larry doing the valve job and me installing the HyLift lifters. That shouldn't have changed too much and I still should be able to use the original pushrods.
Now I know Max told me to get adjustables so I ordered the Smith Bros quick install Evo pushrods and are awaiting them to be shipped out. Larry only had the S&S adjustable and not the quickies otherwise I would have bought them. In the meantime, I'm gonna install and get this bike started. I can use the Smith Bros pushrods on my next Evo project.
What do you guys think of my breakdown?
