I'm assuming you did the test with the throttle plate wide open.. That's not that high to warrant compression releases, I'm wondering what your timing tables are.. Can you post a video of it trying to start? Cold and hot..

no I didnt open the throttle plate but I cranked it til it leveled off. What I noticed when doing the test is its only the first crank thats hard. So even with no spark the first rotation was hard/slow but after that it cranked fine for ~10-15 seconds til the compression gauge stopped increasing.
if it was compression causing the issue it should have cranked slow through the whole compression test.
