Opening a can of worms here but looking for advice on a cam for my 2023 SGS. After months of "research" narrowed it down to CR483, Woods 22XD or RS472. Seen a lot of info on CR and Woods but not much on the RS472. RS 472 looks interesting from what I read and the charts I see, plus they are local company and like to support local. All seem very similar from the charts but love to hear what everyone thinks. Thank you.
I haven't ridden with any of these cams, so I'm purely dyno sheet racing here with my opinion.
I'd pick the Woods 22XD out of the cams you mentioned. It looks to be a little stronger than the RS 472 in the 3-4K RPM range and nearly identical to the CR483 in that 3-4k range. As well the 22XD is better out the back from 5k RPM on, than both others.
Thanks! 22XD was my first choice after speaking with Fuel Moto. Unfortunately, after that I went down the cam rabbit hole and the other two peaked my interest. I am going to stick with the first choice and get the 22XD.
I went with the RS 472. Really like it. Starts pulling low 2’s and comes on really nice 2800-4000 where I pretty much live. Bike is a 2023 low rider s 117. Fuel moto 2 into 1, intake and 5.5 injectors. To be honest there is very little difference between the cams mentioned. Couple horses or ft of torque one way or the other. You won’t go wrong with any of them.
I have put 12k miles on my 472, been very satisfied. I have a 2020 Streetglide Special with Vance and Hines head pipes and tab mufflers with perforated baffles. I have a dyno tune scheduled for December with Matt at those dyno guys in Florida. I'm installing shotgun injectors, SE intake and Khrome Werks dominator exhaust before the trip.
I have the 22xd in my 22 SG ST and it's been great for almost 10k miles. I even installed one in my buddies 107 and he says it woke that thing up too. I did all the supporting mods also such as injectors, intake/throttle body, tune, and clutch springs.
Thanks. Think i am still going to go with 22XD. Already installed the S&S manifold, clutch springs, Khrome Werks Hideaway header and KW HP+ slip ons with louvered baffle. Just waiting on the cam to finish her up. Seems like i cant go wrong with any of these cams, all seems very similar and a tremendous upgrade. Appreciate everyone's help.
