Try to fit the manifold before doing any milling. I have installed intake manifolds with more of a "drop" than the OP is dealing with without any "milling". The OP will be kicking himself if he cuts the intake and has leaking seals in the future; just sayin. BTW, I have caught ChatGpt getting things wrong several times. I suggest that the OP reply to Chat Gpt and tell it that several members of a Harley Davidson technical forum have advised that the intake does not have to be milled and see how Chat Gpt replies.
Haha oki, Chat TGP is wrong quite often. I agree 😊 I will tell it, it probably will agree as it tends to change opinions quite easily.
Chat TGP agrees completely and has the deepest respect for the HD-forum community.

I have a question maybe someone can explain it to me? I can see the difference in the two plates in the pictures, but the cam chain? On the factory plate is it bigger? Looks to have more play in it? Or is it an illusion
Reason asking is I'm thinking about a cam ,however I'm looking to use the factory plate and just replace bearings, and oil pump along with the tensioners..

Hello, I also have notice there are difference in chains and sprockets. Harley seems to changed them through the years.

How can you do a proper leak down test without breaking in the rings..???
The rings are already broken in. The big bore was done three years and 10.000 miles ago.
This winter I cleaned out carbon, changed the cam, checked valve to valve clearance, valve to piston clearance and replaced the head gaskets. Apart from what is mentioned above, I also replaced the valve springs, the valve seals and the exhaust valves.
You are right there otherwise. At breaking in I had a terrible blow-by, I recall. I didnt do any leak down then, but upon opening the oil hole at idle, it was blowing like a steam engine. Also it was leaking oil from joints in the engine.

Doing the leak down test again, this time more correct by releasing air several times to set the meter to zero, I measured 10 % instead of 8 %
Searching for the leak I found that both the compression releases were leaking.
These Husqvarna motor saw compression releases have been in my cylinder heads for three years. I will replace them with new ones and do the test again, to see what it shows.

Can't go wrong with these Kibble white, but if you have the same identical Leak with brand new, I would say there's something going on with the head or the theads..
