Default TC Cam Chain upgrade

I have come to the conclusion that the new-to-me 2003 FXSTB with 18k miles need to have the roller cam-chain upgrade. I have read everything that I can find on the process but I remain confused about the upgrade options.

On the one hand is the SE parts collection, while on the other hand is the Andrews kit. It seems to me that there is something different about the bearing sizes used, between these manufacturers.

I gather that both require new cams and I have reduced the choices to the Andrews #37 cam or the SE 204 cam, but I am left with uncertainty about which manufacturer to go with.

Help!

Cams are not required to do the tensioner upgrade. But since you're in there, why not.

It seems that this is untrue about the Andrews kit. They state that "Stock HD camshafts cannot be used for
roller chain conversions!" Andrews requires the use of one of their "N" series cams with their Conversion camshaft kits.

Don't know, but the SE gives you tensioners, chain, oil pump, etc., no cams.

And while you are in there, upgrade your inner cam bearings as well!! And put a Baisley spring in your oil pump.

Do they both have a roller chain from cam to cam?

Brian there is no difference between kits, the bearings look different because they are the better ones that you should change when doing this. So there is know bearing failure later.

Then why does the Andrews kit require their special "N" series cams, rather than just the post '07 TC cams?

Avoid the after market mix and match chit. Stop by a good dealer and have a talk with shop manager.
All these fancy named after market parts ever notice they are the ones always having trouble with their bikes and don't have many miles on them.
Do the hd upgrade, if you want to change it up a bit some SE cams that fit your needs bolt right in.
