Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
I'm at 9.6 with mild head work and 50mm throttle body. I have put numerous 551 570 585 509 510 pretty much all s&s has to offer and never used the 583 and figured side be the ginne pig. I'm running 211 now and not to bad but want more torque
Will do, got good prices on everything I needed on Amazon. Should have parts showing up by the end of the week. Got S&S Quickie pushrods & lifters (33-5350), and cam bearings and gasket kit. Got the tools needed as well, already got 2 more bikes lined up to do cams since I ordered the tools LOL. Just need to order the Baisley spring and stop and pick up the Cyco tensioner shoes one day this week and hope to be wrenching this weekend. Already got the pipe and the cam cover off. Outside shoe didnt look to good, probably worn half way through. Looked with a light at the inner and it looks to still be intact so I caought it in plenty of time WHEEEW

yea i run the 204's, dont get them, they are ok but they start climbing at 1500rpm till 2400rpm then they have a small dip untill 3000rpm then they climb again and at 3500rpm you'll be at the same amount u been at 2400rpm climbing till 4500rpm then it goes down again it doesnt go down much but there is a 15 foot pound torque difference between the dip and the max torque output.
according to some here the 48's are good so i might try those when i want to get rid of these
The 204 is a great cam.... Maybe a better tune or better pipe is in order
Not to hijack your read here as I'm interested too. Can anyone offer their thoughts on Andrews 26? That is what my mechanic is recommending for my stock 88 when we do the cam chain tensioner and oil pump upgrade.
