Default softail Shocks

G'day All.


Well the old Heratage is going well, fixed up a few little things.
But!....She is way to low in the backend, I am scrapeing pipe's/floorboards just taking it easy.
So, apart from unbolting the rear of the shocks and unscrewing the eyelet is there any other way to do it? Hopefully there is. Photos below.

thought that was the only way to adjust them?

To raise the back end you need to screw the eyelet in as Softie shocks work in reverse to a normal shock, so you shorten the shock to raise the back end. You may even have a lowering kit fitted which essentially extends the shock eyelets.

Thanks Spanners, that makes sence now you explained it...screw the eyelet in.
So I have to jack her up and unbolt the eyelet and screw them in.

On most lowering kits , you don't have to unbolt the eyelet, you just loosen the locknut and turn the hex behind it which turns the whole assembly inside the shock, to screw or unscrew the eyebolt.

Granted the picture is of a 2000 and later shock but the procedure is the same

I adjusted mine while they were bolted on the bike.
