Default Evo oil pressure switch relocation

Had a crack on my 93 Fatboy case where the oil pressure switch screws in. Machinist said this was a thin spot on Evo cases and common issue, and recommended welding it closed and thickening case at this spot. Harley makes a gauge to mount on oil tappet screen hole instead of the stock plug screw there.
I found an adapter fitting that is 1/2" UNF x 1/8 NPT, which I believe are the right sizes to adapt this hole with a stock idiot light switch.
Any reason not to do this?
Thanks in advance

That's where I would put it if I was in your situation.
