Couple of issues
Hey all,
Couple of issues I had today not sure where to start
1st one is over 80mph either the front or rear or both seems to start to wobble? Not bad but enough to think I hope this doesn't get any worse scary. Just had new headstock bearings fitted and checked tyre pressures but gonna check them again.
Second issue went for ride today, came home and switched her off and put her on my stand fully lifted, after about an hour maybe less went to the shed and was talking to my bro when all of a sudden heard a high pressure noise and a fuel dumped itself out of the top brass coloured vent on the Milkuni hsr42 ?
Never had this before and carb is like 2 months old.
Any help much appreciated.
Darren.

Was the gas petcock turned off? Or do you have one of those vacuum operated petcocks? After a ride, heat rises, builds pressure in the tank. If the petcock was open or leaking, it would pressurize the carb, possibly overloading the float valve.
Also, check your neck bearings tension per the book.

As for the headstock bearings they have only just been installed. ( not by me ) could it be they have settled in and maybe come a little loose? Not sure how to check them or tighten them.
Loose neck bearings can give you a wobble. Not saying that's causing your wobble, but it can be a cause. Dunno about a wide glide. There's a procedure in my FLHT book, front end off the ground, throttle/clutch cables disconnected, fall away/swings. If you don't have a factory shop manual, you need one.
Having owned Harleys since the 1970s I can tell you there is another reason why the steering might do what you describe. With an upright riding position and high bars, you may simply be gripping the bars tight when riding at speed. It happens! Wear ear plugs, if you don't already, and you will find that experience moves up the rev range, probably beyond your normal riding speed range.
That does assume, of course, that everything else about the bike is in tip-top order. What tyres do you have and what pressures are you using? Avon in particular use higher pressures than stock tyres, so low pressures may add to your experience. Same comment applies if you are very light or heavy.

the tyres are Avons, I put factory pressures in there which I got from my service manual which I can't recall off hand.
I ride the Harley quite hard I took her up to 110 last ride so deffo want to sort this wobble out lol. I donn't believe it's me gripping bars too tight I don't remember it ever doing it before I had the headstock bearings replaced but could be coincidence.
I had a quick look at my swing arm bushes but not sure how accurately I checked them because if I try to move my rear wheel side to side too hard I actually move the whole bike on the stand lol.
Edit: tyre pressures I put in front= 30psi (2.1 bar). Rear = 36psi ( 2.5bar )
