We had a saying back in Northern Wisconsin; just reef on it.

I'd use loctite too.

120-150 ft lbs is correct. There should be a star lock washer there, loctite is not necessary...

No bolt on any bike I work gets installed without at least blue...critical or hard to reach bolts get red..whether they need it or not.

Seeing a bolt leaving your bike and bouncing down the road is very unnerving...haven't seen that since I started an "all bolts get loctite" policy.

Each of your tanks has 3 bolts for a total of 6 bolts for your gas tanks.
I've had mine now for 10 years and haven't had a problem with mine, no lock tight used.
However I do have to replace the rubber bushings almost every time I take the tanks off.

There are many many bolts on our solid mounted Harley's that definitely need Loctite but the pivot bolts on the Softails is not that critical, is all I'm saying. To each their own.......

I can think of a bunch of bolts I would rather lose than a pivot bolt.
