Yep, they may be a bit long too. I also may look to get the chrome springs which Ohlins sells, as this bike has basically NO black, as opposed to my LRS which is ALL black...
I don't know if they'll be Too long...FXR (in general) run longer shocks than Dyna as delivered

Interesting, I'll have to measure when it arrives. Just ordered a pair of night dragons. Went up to 110 on the front, but as I understand the rear has zero clearance to go up from the skinny stock 130...
Also want to look into the availability of one of those arlen ness big rotors like cvaria and others have. With the single disc and all...

BTW, I wasn't referring to the shocks that are on there now...That bike's been lowered.
Also they won't offer an Off-the-Shelf AN Big Brake for your 99-earlier Sliders. You'll have to work around that.
EDIT:
BTW that bike would have originally come with Harley/Fox shocks

You can shove a 140 in there if you want but it's not worth it IMO.
Was just talking to a guy I know who suggested I should use Dino based fluids instead of my beloved Red Line.
Any my real reason why?
The theory is that Evo's are more likely to weep from the gaskets with synth. Old gaskets, looser tolerances, etc.
FWIW (not a damned thing, but I'm putting it out there anyway), I think synth is a waste of money unless you run extended oil change intervals. On my Evo, I run Lucas conventional 20W-50 in the engine, Redline Shockproof in the trans, and whatever plain old automotive ATF is on sale in the primary.
Like most of us, I change all three far more often than I should, just because and why not and all that.
Nice ride, Enjoy. The EVO did not need to be the fastest to feel fast and be a real joy to ride. The pipes on it will sound great and you should get lost in time riding it.
Keep bubba the shade tree butcher away from it and care for it a treasure to own.
I think you you send those shocks back to ohlins usa with a phone call first they can rebuild them to whatever specs you need. I want to say fxr's came with 13 or 14 inch shocks factory depending upon the model

Howard Messner (who built them for me originally) can do that, hell probably do it for cheap or nothing. Im going to try them first and see how they feel. On this chromed out FXD I may want to find the rare as hens teeth chrome springs for them though.
Sounds like the 13.5 length wont be a problem, which is a good thing!
My service manual wont be here until Wed. Anyone know the torque spec on the upper and lower shock bolts by the way?

I agree on the potential waste of money. But the way I look at it, if syn saves me from one stuck in traffic oil cooking overheat, or a chance at a bit less wear over the years, its worth the extra $30/a change it costs me.
