Anyway, a few things.

Can someone provide the torque value (and pattern if there is one) for the derby cover?

Also, my understanding is there is a drain tube under the left cover. Simply unplug it and drain? I saw some videos about flushing the oil left in the motor by running with the filter off for a quart or so. While that freaked me out, it makes sense as the oil coming out is the return to the tank. Is that something usually done?

Lastly (for now...) is is recommend flushing the oil tank with kerosene? Bike has 17k miles.

Also open to any fluid related suggestions!

I plan on using Redline. If gaskets weep, then they’ll get changed I suppose...
Bikes a low miler and it's a rider so I wouldn't overthink the oil or a bunch of little non starter issues. Do the basics just like you would on your daily rider, give it a once over for routine adjustments and checks and ride it for a while. Isn't like it's been sitting for a couple years in shed somewhere.

Every time I change my oil I do start it up without the filter, about a half quart.install new filter, top off the oil. Stays clean longer. Is it necessary,NO,but it's too easy to do as my filter is at the rear wheel.

Got it today. Nice guy. He and his wife arrived right when he said. Rolled it out of the U-Haul and brought it inside. Has a stage one it seems, aftermarket 2:2 pipes and an air cleaner. Filter looked a little ratty, so I picked up a new K&N while ordering tires, and a Racetech spring and emulator kit for the forks. My Ohlins are missing the reducer bushings, so I have to order a set. Pissed I lost them. Oh well. Anyway, the plug over the mixture screw was removed so I can only assume it may have been tuned. Runs real nice. Started right up, but I may need to bump up the idle a bit, I’ll see once I get it on the road. Going to DMV tomorrow.

Don’t know anything about the evo motor yet, and my service manual isn’t arriving till Wed according to usps. So I ’m going to let my dealer do the 20k service and put my Pirellis on it and the Racetech kit. I’ll do the shocks and probably taller bars eventually. Gotta figure out what to do with the idiot lights, as they are on the top riser clamp. May just get a semi flat bar and taller, straight risers. The current ones have pullback which I don’t need. I’ll toss some poly bushings in while I’m at it.

Anyway, day one didn’t get much done. I’m going to drop the oil tomorrow, needed to grab a filter which I did today also. Probably going to install my favorite accessory, the 3guyz oil filter relocation kit as well.

My parking is underground, so my photos generally suck. But here are some.

A simple 'tune' of replacing the stock air-box with a conventional air filter, changing mufflers, and adjusting the carb to compensate for those changes.
