A Super E would certainly solve your problems. Still needs to be jetted right, but at least you have something that's not complicated to work on.

I'm not saying your existing carb is beyond hope, just that this remote diagnosing thing is not working out very well. I don't know the CV's myself, although I have on my chopper. Haven't had to mess with it. If you have a vacuum leak, it will play hell with those CV's. Worse than other carbs. Yours seems too fat on the bottom and too lean on the intermediate/main jet area. So, I think your best choices here are to either bring it to an expert or go with a new carb.

So it ran great for an hour and started backfiring after I got off of the highway. Adjusted the mixture a bit more, it stopped backfiring, and I’ve been adjusting the idle a bit to see where it performs best. Rode altogether 3ish hours and now it’s almost perfect. Just need to bring the idle up a touch more and I think everything will be gOod to go!! Thank you everyone that gave advice and help. Next I’m going to start assembling parts so that this winter I can freshen everything else up in the motor etc.

also I am planning on getting a super e, just need to take care of a couple other things first now that it is running

I'd make sure you have a inline fuel filter between the petcock and the carb. And if that fuel line is a bit old, you might replace it. Bits of it can break off and clog up the jets.

I didn't read all the comments but this is what you do.

Start the bike and loosen the top bolt that hold the oil pump check valve in place, let it run for a minute then tighten back down. Bingo, oil plunge is gone. I just did this lat night on a 91 FXR. The guy thought the motor cases had a hole in them, nope. I did exactly what i typed and it worked. That ball check valve gets stuck after the bike sits for long periods of time. This is the fix.

So I was on the highway today after riding about 2 hours of off and on city riding. Hit 80mph...no issues. 85...seemed a little off. 90...I thought it was gonna blow. Sputtering, popping in exhaust, just ****ed up. Lowered speed, it was fine. It also was only reaching 4K rpms MAX in 5th gear, and 4200 in 4th.

One of my brothers posed an idea. My bike had a 170 iirc main jet. Service manual calls for 185. It also has straight pipes on it. So, he suggested I put a 190/195 on it and see how it ran. Haven’t pushed it super hard yet, but it sounds way more like it did before I moved to this super hot shithole of Texas (no offense, I love it here actually lol). So just need to fine tune the idle a bit again and hit the highway. Houston bound next week!

Also, I got the HD pilot helmet. That MFer is nice, but I couldn’t breathe yesterday. So I’m now windshield-less and loving it!

So I was looking through some old info from when I started having issues at the beginning of the year...

Bike had screaming eagle ignition, that went out. Had it replaced with a dynatec. Tbh this was the beginning of my issues. Started losing top speed, etc. When I first got it, I could cruise at 100+. Now 85 is basically all I got. Also, RPMs cap out at 4K in 4th and 5th.

Increasing jet jet to a 190 gave me more power, but could the issue be that the VOES is disconnected, and the new ignition needs it? And is there a separate rev limiter for 4th/5th gear?
