Default 91 FHLS/FHLTC New owner 1st harley!

bought my first bike and just have some questions about a few things on these models.

I like projects and there never to big that said

1. Anyone know if the front forks can be changed out and move to a speedo on tank
2. Put new 1.4kw starter in and looking at one-piece jackshaft any luck with these?
3.jetted for "high altitude" whats comin jet setup on some medium motor work All i know is cams and new rods and pistons bored .30 over
4.16" ape hangers will it be easier to just buy new switch kit thats 6" longer than splice or they long enough

Thank you again iam new to all this lol

one more thing i was told that this is a 91 FLHT Electro Glide Classic and says on title but when i google stuff about it it always shows front fairing and look at handle bars and only come up with the bent ones to clear the said fairing. google 91 FLHS thats what my bike looks like.

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF as well as FLHS ownership - 1990 model here, owned from new.

1. What are you asking about the forks, to change/improve the suspension? It's not a Road King.....
2. Hopefully someone else can comment on that.
3. If you are planning engine work then wait until that is done, then retune your carb to suit.
4. Apes? Yuk - I'll pass on that one!

I'll take a shot:

1) "Can"? Sure. Anything is possible. That sounds like one of those modifications that could snowball on you in a hurry.
2) No idea.
3) Depends on where you're starting, right? What jets are in there now? Any idea on too rich/too lean anywhere?
4) Really comes down to whether or not you want new controls. Keep your stock controls and do some splicing? Get new controls and re-do the connectors at the ends? Not a lot of difference in effort either way. May as well run the wires internal to the bars as long as you're at it.

If your bike has the instruments inbetween the handlebars and part of the headlight nacelle: You've got a FLHS. ElectraGlide Sport. This is commonly referred to as 'a toaster' or 'a breadbox'. A 'batwing' fairing was an optional accessory offered by The MoCo.

If your bike has the instruments mounted in the batwing fairing: It's an FLHTC or FLHTCU. ElectraGlide Classic or ElectraGlide Ultra.

If, by chance, you have the 'toaster' and a fairing that's attached to the front crash bar: You've got an FLHT OR FLHTU. TourGlide.

Great info. Confirm what model you have by going to the H-D website and the Owners tab, where you can enter your VIN and get the original spec for your bike. Removes the guesswork! We can also think much more clearly in here with a few pics.....
