Default The more I look....

The more I look at handlebars, the more confused I get. Most won't fit my 98 ultra fairing right off the bat.

Don't know if mine are stock or not, 32" end to end of grips and killing my back on the road, need more like 20" and pointed more towards me. Always used 8- bend on old bikes and they were ok. Existing are 1" bars.

Any tips from those who have gone thru this?
Thanks. Ken

The problem is the distance in the mounting "plane" ... extra wide on those FLHT's before any rise.. measure the Flat [horizontal] part.. and go see yer Indy for a Proper bar..
We always sit on the Bike...level .. feet on boards [or pegs] .. eyes closed.. or better yet blindfolded, .. hold hands where comfortable, and have a Partner do some measuring... especially width and pullBack....

Thanks, Racepres. I did the eyes closed thing and now have all measurement I need. After searching what seems like a million sites, have not found one that meets what I want.

However.......I can "easily" modify my bars to give me just what I want. Tig and ability to use it. Will be able to use existing wiring and cables. Plus I'm a tightwad. Call me crazy, but I love one of a kind customizing. Thread to come. Tomorrow planning permanent EFI line leak fix.Thread soo n to come on that one...both with pics!

Can you roll your bars up any? From the picture they look like they're rolled downward. Rolling them up will bring your grips up out of the bike.

I can move the bars , Crashbone, but my problem is the grip to grip width... too much for my old messed up shoulder and middle back. 32" is just too much. So I will modify for 24 or so and at the same time point the grip ends more in my direction .
Thanks. Ken

Friend of my youngest had a set of Bars, wide in middle, then actually pinched in at top bend, and turned in a bit at end...exactly opposite from my preference... but maybe what you need.. they resemble the old Honda CT-70 handlebars to my eye!!!
I will get some measurements for you...as they are off and laying around right now..

BTW. are you saying something like SuperGlide bars are suitable??? [except need to have wider space at mount]

Ok, Racepress. Yes, think I saw a set of Super Glide bars that were pretty close, but would not fit the fairing width.
Honda bars sound interesting. Let me know measurements if u can. Don't go to a lot of trouble over it, though. Thanks. Ken
