Just sayin, you have a pretty stock Anniversary year bike from when they truly made a limited amount of each model. And now that she is over 20 years old, starting to have collectible value. Not sure that is the bike I would be hacking up, not saying Dynas of that vintage should be left alone, just an Anniversary bike should stay what she is, my opinion, your bike, have fun.
Some things are worth changing while still leaving it to look stock. Like wheels or bars but leaving the paint and tins.... Hacking is a total different approach.. I tried a wide glide front end on my 98 Fatboy and it just didn't look right... Some things are better left alone...jmho...

I am pretty sure the Fat Boy Came with a wide front end... kinda Heritage Softail, pseudo FLH, werent they??
Or are you saying you didn't like the "naked" look of the FXWG... also a Wide Front end, FLH trimmed and Chromed, like was done to the original FLH front end, back in the day!!
More like a Softail custom.. In fact the front end I used was for a softail custom. Stock their tubes run 2 inch over on length compared to the Fatboy. So putting that on a fat boy without the extra rake that the custom has well, It just didn't look right.. To me..
