I've got a slight inner primary leak and need a new rear tire, so now is the time if I'm going to go wider on the rear tire, planning on this being my next mod. I'm a mechanic, love customizing, so don't mind mods to the rear fender, or whatever else I need to do, cut frame horns etc.
Anyway I'd like to run a 180 or 200 rear. I know there's threads on this topic, but nobody's replying since they're so old (the threads) and I didn't find a lot of definite answers.
the main info I need is, will a 200 wheel from a 2008 work with modifications? I found one for a fair price, if I can make it work with my stock swingarm, brake, pulley, I'll pick it up
can i run this wide of a tire with the stock swingarm? (180 or 200) on a 1999 softail
What pulley will work to switch to the narrow belt?

Ya need to leave that 2008 alone. The way the cush hub and bearings are just 2008 ONLY. Kinda of a redheaded stepchild they are. Step up a year or 2 and you might be OK
After doing a bunch more reading here I found that I can swap the swingarm to an '06 and use the Deuce wheel, the later model rear fender and bolt on fender struts. A narrow belt should be enough to get the clearance. I've also read that a 180 is a better option for tire life and handling. I'm probably not going with a wide tire kit, mainly because of cost and I'm not interested in offsetting the primary

Thanks, there doesn't seem to be a lot of info available on that year. I'll try to find an '05/'06 wheel. I've read that I can machine my brake rotor to match the hub, do you know if there's any differences in the calipers from '99 to a newer wheel/swingarm of a TC?
That will severely limit how wide a tire you can stuff in there...the twin cams had the primary offset 3/4" compared to an EVO...simple to do...gain a ton of space...and you can buy the parts to do it without buying a major kit...
