Thank you gentlemen...I used the square version ,size 4 while in place but no good...tried heat but no good (I was a bit nervous). In the end i managed to take the base off (holy crap its not easy to get an allen key to) and did it on the bench with much more heat and hammered it in quite hard...what joy to see it removed and the threads all intact! Then replaced it all back on the bike....again holy crap is this the most awkward space to work this. I'll only know if its not leaking once i start her again but fingers crossed. It may be a few weeks as Im waiting for a cam cover!
Thanks gents.

Thread sealant or blue loctite on clean oil free male and female threads will help keep things from leaking...glad you got it fixed!

Default Can be repaired without taking apart oil pump

[QUOTE=monchidog;19894603]Hi guys,, I'm working on my 1992 FXDC Dyna and was trying to change the compression nut fitting on the pipe going into the Oil Pump. Because of the angle and access being bloody impossible I think I bent the spanner angle and basically left the thread part of the Nut in the manifold section of the pump. I hope the issue is clear from the diagram attached. There are 2 diagrams as they show a slightly different pump but I think mine is the one I've written on.

I have tried using a "screw out" type drill bit (by hand) to try and grab the remaining "hollow" thread and wrangle it out BUT didn't work.

My question is whether there is an easy way to get this section of the Pump off so I can work on it on my table? Can I just remove one screw and drop of the bottom part as indicated in the diagram? What about the other oil line?

Also does anyone have any other ideas on how to remove this from the pump.

Many thanks.....I thought this would be a quick job hahaha!
