Harley can look them up on the bikes build sheet but not a whole lot of colors to choose from.

Try and find a 1997 catalog.
It usually lists the paint color scheme options available for each particular model. Once you know the color name, you can google the color name/combo for the codes.

In addition to "standard" colors, there were a limited number of "custom" colors produced in limited numbers in those years. They were "factory" paint jobs, but with non-standard colors and logos.
