Been putting off installing my STA-BO front mount awhile, engine really moving a lot , and i "felt" a change in the noises when i was braking...
I set the bike up and remove the regulator and find the remains of one engine-side bolt for the mount bracket. The left side one is loose, and the mount was sagging enough I think the bolt could contact the frame under braking.
Found exact match for shiny hardware at Bigstore last night.
Looks like i have the revised HD mount on this bike (prolly who left the bolts in disrepair) and it looks decent, a little slanted. Also have the STA-BO version new.
Gotta decide which to run with.
No, my bike had the 79D later mount. 98 FLHRCI.
I am comparing it to the STA-BO. My HD 79D looks pretty good.
Cant find any first hand info on installing the STA-BO, and i wonder about the conical shape of lower half. The Stock mounts use that big washer, same diameter as rubber.
Im thinking since my issue was broken hardware, i may stick with the HD mount and BIG washer until i know more. Pic shows STA-BO sitting on washer
I've never run a StaBo mount but what I've heard and read, they will give you more vibes. The -79D is a good mount. Mushroom up and be sure to align the mount, washer and thru bolt by the book and you'll be happy.
HD factory updated mount is the way to go, unless you are changing out the swingarm bushing to the stabo kit as well.
Hence the stabo swing arm bushing kit is going to cause more motor vibration to begin with, and what you will pick at an increase with the poly motor mount, will not be that noticeable.
Also, before you tighten every thing down, check your rear tire/engine alignment to get that correct with the mount end links,, then you can finish tightening down the front motor mount hardware.
