So I figure I will keep my updates and questions all in the same space.

Found a used luggage rack and it comes withe the backrest pad (should keep the wife happy on short hauls).

Bike was a real buggar to start and even when warmed up, had an on again-off again pop. Exhaust is stock. Mufflers haven't been punched out. The original petcock was replaced with a Drag Specalties one with no provision for the VOS (The line is there but plugged). Got a new one on the way. Looks like HD used the same petcock on carbed models at least thu 2002 (maybe as far as 2006 when all models went to fuel injection?). I get that mounted and if it still is rough to start, I'll check the intake manifold.

Going to put on some new rubber. I used Dennis Kirk for the tires on my 78 FXE. Prices seem competitive and shipping was smooth and fast.

Question #1. The 1995/1996 parts manual does not show the mag wheels for the bike; it only lists the mag wheel for the sidecar. Just for reference purposes, is the mag wheel rim for the hack the the same part number as for the front and rear bike wheels on the bike?

Question #2. Does the mag wheel use a tube? And if I need a tube....The wheel on the bike has a hard rubbber valve stem. Dennis Kirk offers one with a chrome valve stem. Are they interchangeable?

And being that the bike is about halfway thru the next service period I am going to jump up and do the 20K service. Having it up on the lift will give me a chance to inspect everything, fresh fluids and such, and do a good clean up & polish as well.

Nice find! I've owned my 1995 Road King since new. I don't have access to my parts manual right now but the Ronnie's site does show the mag wheels front and rear. They're just not drawn like a mag in the listing like they are for the sidecar. The front mag is PN 43493-87A, The rear is PN 43402-87A, the hack mag is PN 43405-87. These wheels do not use a tube. Pay attention to the bead surface as they will corrode over time and cause a bead leak that will not go away even with sealant. My first set was done after 20 years. These wheels use a rubber pull-through valve stem. Not sure if you could retrofit a threaded unit with rubber washers; I've just replaced the rubber ones at every tire change. As for the VOES, I believe from the factory there should be one vacuum line from the intake and then teed off to the VOES and the original petcock. There was a recall on mine for the petcock but I replaced it with a Pingel unit to get rid of the vacuum. Hope this helps and looking forward to your making this "modern" bike your own.

This is what I'm seeing in the 95-96 parts catalog. I think it should be a tubeless cast wheel.

Question #2. Does the mag wheel use a tube?

I came across some tire info in the 1996 owners manual. HD says only tube type tires on wire spoked wheels and tubeless tires on all HD cast and disc wheels.

Oh the joys of "modern" technology. Electronic ignition system is great....until it isn't. Shakedown cruise didn't get 25 miles. Got the bike home and found this...

So the cam position sensor plate is history.

Do a search on this forum.
There is a standard part that is quite cheap and that will fit our EVO bikes!

Someone of this forum EVO specialists will hopefully tell You exactly what the correct partnumber is for your bike.

Again, You've got a really nice bike there!

Edit: You will need a Standard motor products MC-SPA3 (Economical option).

Or get a Dyna 2000i ignition.

The good news is that after you replace it, it will probably out live you. One time fix and then forget all about it. Good luck.
