Default Strange speedo issue

On my 94 Road King, I'm having a strange issue with my speedometer. As soon as I start out my speedo jumps to 35 mph. It's real slow coming back to zero when I stop also. Yesterday when I was out for a long ride, I did notice that the speedometer was jumping a little bit. Any ideas? its electronic, not cable driven. Thanks

Pull the trigger in on the right side of the trans at the rear top - take the Allen out and leave it in place clean it good - the pick up magnet is seeing the debris on the trigger end

Not sure if your 1994 is a magnetic pick up at the trans or a conventional cable drive at the front wheel. My 1994 is a conventional cable and drive gear at the front wheel.

If magnetic pick up (hall effect sensor) then as previously posted.

If "old style" drive cable on the front wheel, then the cable needs graphite to the cable. Also inspect the front wheel speedo drive gear. You can lube them with a grease needle. Usually the drive gear needs a serious cleaning before re-lube.

So, I pulled the sensor. Looked like it had 29 years of super fine metal shavings on it. Probably never been out. I’m going to add it as a annual maintenance item. I’ll road test it in the morning.

You just screwed the dealer out of the sale for a trigger and a new speedo plus the 6 hours labor at hundreds an hour - thats if they actually had some one who knew how to work on an old bike like yours

That's why I own a EVO and do my own work. I would never even and consider a new bike.
