Hello, Gentlemen.
I ride 1991 fxst . The previous owner said the muffler of this ride is stock.
Lately I 've found there are no silencers or baffles in this stock mufflers.
Here I got a question.
When I rode 1997 fxst my stock mufflers had stock silencer in it.
There is time harely had no silencers or bafflers when they were issued?
or these are the mufflers the silencers were punched out of ?
Thanks for any answers in advance.
Looks like that rear rotor has seen better days. I love my 97 FXDS and basically all stock as it was new. I love the stock sound and have no reason to change it out unless it needs to be replaced. I love to idle off quietly is needed. Im allergic to jealous husbands and bullets !
The baffles on those mufflers were welded in, so they had to cut them out with a hole saw if they are no there. If you look in the rear of the muffler, you should see that it is open and can push a broom handle in.
From my experience, with the baffles removed they sound fairly quiet at idle, but when you open the throttle they get loud.

Yes I agree. I love the sound of this stock shotgun muffler sound.
Basically, this ride is original stock .
If these mufflers are ones stock silencers were already punched out of.
I plan to go to the same stock mufflers with silencers in it.

Ye, once I saw the progress the inner baffles were taken off from stock mufflers on Youtube.
End holes of these mufflers are bigger in diameter than those of my ex-97fxsts which had baffles.
The sound is not so big but louder ?
According to previous owner, this ride is original stock and I found the tyres installed were original 1991 ones.
So I wonder if Moco issued pre-1992 harleys with no baffle mufflers once.
thanks for answer.

Agree that if a Broom stick goes In...they been Cut!!!
BTW This
Is Shotguns!!!!
Those shown, Are Staggered Duals.... Nomenclature Folks!!!!
Thanks, yes, broom stick goes in.
May be the silencers were punched out.
I just called this as shotgun cause I remember when moco released 1990 "Grey Ghost" Fatboy
they introduced its muffler system as shotgun mufflers in there pamphlets which is the same as these ones.
Anyway, Here are pictures of end holes.
I think I'm going quieter,
Are there any quiet baffles that fit this stock muffler tubes ?
^ someone did a Nice Job.. But, I bet those are Very Loud!!!
Try first to find the Old (cherry bomb look inside) Screamin Eagle slip ons...I like 'em alot...
also 1990 Grey Ghost
See any Resemblance???

Thank you gentleman, Now I see the difference.
Who can't love that metal grey color which matches that masculine configuration !!
Before I search for mufflers , those old stock evo mufflers were applied from 1991 to 1996?
