Put a S&S 640 in with the 1.675 rockers, didn't calculate what the rocker ratio changed cam specs to, just interested in a softer hitting cam, those Ultima cams hit hard in city cruising or tree lined back roads having the ability to produce headaches. John J will be along shortly saying something about getting old but will forget what he is typing before done.
John and I share a commonality, hearing is shot so a bit of the ol loud isn't a thing anymore.
He's got a Buell that'll wake your dead ancestors when it cranks up, Friggen floor shook

its easy to see - 1.675 ratio times the lobe lift 393.84 = 659.683 so we call is ,660 lift from a .640 cam and another 2 to 3 degrees of duration
.020 extra lift on 175 pound on the seat valve springs makes it almost 30 pounds open extra pressure at full lift probably 300 pounds maybe more - would need install heights info to calculate but i am close and he is good for 4 years in those springs if thats what they used
Normal for me is solid lifters with Sifton 118 & 119 cams, M grinds, redshift 550’s and S82’s.. open drags always. So the sound I don’t imagine to bother me.
127 fired right up, no issues. Ran four 2 minute cycles slowly varying the rpm up to 2500 for 10-15 seconds right from the manual. It got dark so I quit there. Wednesday I’ll be home so in the afternoon I’ll go for my first 10 mile ride. I’ll do a few of those, oil & filter change and then do a few 30 mile trips per manual.
Not gonna be ready by Saturday for Sons of Speed so might rent a Harley to go. Don’t like the sound of the Bassani… I’m at 1100 rpm and slowly going up to 2500… but the sound is sharp. I’ll check timing and jetting soon, but pretty sure that’s just the sound of those pipes. Hate that they weld the baffles in there… I guess whatever makes it fastest at the track is what it will get regardless of sound.. but really don’t like the sharp crisp sound. Not metallic or anything… but disappointing.

My Thunderheader is the same way with my V111. I was never able to tune out the loud popping either when I let of the throttle. Post up a video of your bike running.

it comes down to they type of engine valve head you have and if its tulip style - and if so how deep it is up the stem - it must be short reason for the flash back
I like my CV40 carb because it's nice and smooth. I appreciate the performance of S&S carbs (had one on the shovelhead) but . . . if I drop the dough for an El Bruto 107" would a CV40 work? I've heard about early TC's coming with CV44's but I can't seem to find anything about a CV44 so they must not exist.

With a 107 I'd want a bigger carb than a 40. I guess it would work tho. I'd use a HSR45 Mik..
