Snow and ice has been my reason. It has snowed here since December. We have another storm coming tomorrow. I love it. NOT lmao I wish I could have ridden more but I will make up for it this summer.
What happened to studded tires, I'm sure Avon should be able to figure out something. Ever tried ice racing yu screw in sheet metal screws into knobby dirt bike tires and get even better traction than on dirt it's a blast and doesn't hurt as much when you fall down which is goodsince you end up going a lot faster. I'm sure glad I live in Canada though as the US sounds way too cold, our snow was gone off the roads towards the end of Dec first ride in 2008 was Jan 3rd it was a bit wet but not that cold. I live in a place called Kelowna which has great weather. Hope your ice melts soon as it has been a nasty winter in some places.
I have heard of studding tires. Have seen it done for years but have never done it myself. Used to ride a 3 wheeler a lot but never really had a need to stud it. I will be riding soon. I am thinking in a month or so but that I guess is up to Mother Nature.
Just installed the Ultima 100cu with belt drive and 6 speed...man those lifters are extremly loud on both cylinders????you can hear them all through the rpm range...youguys say that is normal but they are really loud even over thr exhaust at some points ihav around 15 miles on break in and only on cold nights...I hat to have to tear into it since it is so new...any advice???
My top end is loud but at a certain rpm i don't hear it.it mostly loudest at idle or low rpms, of course my 80" evo was loud also, so i really don't pay that much attention.Did you geta number for the Ultima tech that you can call. Have you talked to them yet ?
yes he told me to adjust the pushrods ...I have about a 100 miles on it now 3 oil changes later and the rearcyinder at the top is really clapping more then the front...espically at idle and low rpms...very loud...my 80 was not this loud ...almost sounds like a rod but its at the top of the head...I will try to adjust them soon and I hope it helps if not I have a rocker / valve / lifter problem...but the dam thing runs great ???Ill call the tech line again and see what they suggest if this doesnt fix it...sh---xxooxx I don't want to pull that bi---- out ...I only have 1/4 inch clearance on my 89 fram... thanks for the response and anymore advice would be greatly appreciated...
My 113 isn't that much louder than my 96" S&S was before it blew. I have 800 miles on mine and it acts just like pacos motor. JJB1, you can't get those covers off with the motor in?
Hey Goat Iam going to try tonight if the pushrod adjustment does not work and I ll let the forum know what I find...I hope its something simple...if not I ll have to pull the covers off one way or another...I just got a gut feeling its not the lifters out of adjustment
By all means let us know what you find. I just can see it being anything major. With no more miles on it, it just couldn't be the roller on the end of the lifter. I had a friend brought his 80"Fatboy to me and it sounded like a rod slapping. It was the roller onone lifter had failed. Good luck
Went to adjust the lifters andnoticed I could push one pushrod down with minimum pressure...so I went ahead and pulled all 4 lifters and found only the one I can push about a 1/2 inch in with easy finger pressure the other 3 you cant moveat all even forcing the pushrod with hand pressure...Allthe pushrods are straight other then I noticed they were adjusted very tight before I pulled them...Brian with Ultima recommends only 2 1/2 turns maxand said never hook the VOES to these new ones because there is plenty of advance in the new ignition and could help the life of the motor,,anyway...they are sending me another lifter and gaskets and said this is more then likely whyit was clapping/knocking so hard...so when it get the other one and adjust them hopefully thats all it was...
