John, first and foremost, thanks for your service and dedication to our country. Second, thanks for your wisdom with the bike. Seeing as this is being put in an EFI model, it didn't have a white wire from the ignition going to the coil. It had the yellow/green wire that goes to the fuel pump going to it, so that is what I sent to the coil again. I will let you all know how things proceed this week, hopefully she will be fired up. I will post a video if that is the case. Wish me luck!
The 127 is a great motor, the only trouble I had is with valve noise
I noticed a considerable increase in valve noise when I switched to synthetic oil in our 113. The change in noise was directly related to the oil change, no ifs, ands, or buts about that. I don't mind, my older 80" with the ev-27, 10:1 pistons , head work, bigger valves &valve springs etc. had valve noise as well.
I am going to try a few things to see if I can reduce the lifter noise, first off I have some new S&S lifters a Ultima high volume oil pump, Vthunder push rods. When ever I get back home these will be going in the motor along with a careful check of the rockerboxes to see if there is anything hitting or rubbing, then checking the cam gear for back lash and end play. Beyond that it will be time for solid lifters as they make less noise.
I have been running Mobil 1 15-50 synthetic since i changed the breakin oil. no problems and very little valve train noise. But, my motor is smaller than all yours so that may be the difference.
I had a moment of insanity over the weekend and moved the 107" to the 95 semi ultra and put the semi-stock 80" back on the 90 ultra. Got all almost all the parts painted and begining to put the 95 back together. I have got to find a hot wire for the coil and the wire for the tach and the 107 will be ready to run on the 95.
Paco, I just looked up your wiring and attached it (if it works) to this reply. They yellow/green that goes to your fuel pump is what you need to splice into for the coil. The tach is a pink wire. Check it out. If this doesn't work, send me your email in a PM and I will send you the wiring diagram...
Thanks wmattert,
I just bought me a cheap squirt gun after i got pissed with the last guy that painted the 90. single stage black paint isn't too pricey and i had a lot of old parts to practice on. I have also became acquinted with a young man that built a 68 chevelle. He introduced me to the fellow that painted his car and he has been giving me pointers. He didn't want to paint the bike but would help me out when i needed it.
I din't get the diagram, but now from your other post i looked for the fuel pump wire. i have stripped all the wires that were associated with the efi. but anyway, look for a PM.
