Ultima 107" motor on a 90 model Bagger
Here is some info about the Ultima Diamond Cut Eng ;-)
It's got about 8k miles up now. My wife and I did a 2,500 mile tour of Europe on it in June, with a bunch of young whipper-snappers on modern BMWs. We had a great time and travelled a wide variety of roads and countryside. The Tatra Mountains on the Slovakia/Poland border are wonderful!
The bike rides great, charges along a treat, but still has that vibration patch I have mentioned before. I just have to get on with it! Cash is a bit short at present, but I intend getting my S&S man to spend some time on his dyno with it, see if we can tune the vibration out.
A Harley mechanic pal of mine reckons the problem is a combination of resonance in the valve train caused by the cam, plus jet transition in the carb. I hesitate to change the cam, but sorting the carb looks like being more straight-forward (thanks to John of Mia Cycles!).
The air/fuel mixture goes haywire, from rich to lean, crossing over around 2,500/3,000rpm, before getting back on track to the correct ratio from 4,000rpm. Its perfect beyond that, but I don't spend a lot of time up there - gets really hectic around 6,000rpm!

So we're rubbing along together. Performance is far better than before, as we would hope, while fuel consumption seems pretty similar. I did a range of handling improvements around the same time and the 'old lady' really flies now. So I am not quite as happy as I could be, but still love it!
just found that Thread.
Just installed a Ultima 107" in my 1999 Heritage.
Got about 400 miles on it now.
Start to rcognice now a Top End Noise wich was not there from the Beginning!
Any way to be concerned about it??
Maybe need to adjust Valve clearence?
Other than that engine runs grate
Any advise will be appreciated.
Greetings from sunny Germany
