I don't think Ultima makes a Twin Cam engine, if they do you will not hear too much about them here in the EVO section. Some people do have bad luck with their Ultima engines, but they claim that once you get in touch with Ultima they are good at sending replacement parts, even after the warranty expired.

Jireh http://www.jirehcycles.com/ sells Ultima engines at a reasonable price, I think it's the same price for NON-EPA as well as EPA approved 100" to 120".

The NON-EPA has a 12 month warranty and the EPA has a 24 month warranty but I was told Ultima is much more forgiving with the NON-EPA motors, and it appears many guys are getting free replacement parts long after the warranty expires. More recently a fellow on the Harley tech talk forums posted he just got free replacement parts for an Ultima engine purchased in 2007.

GRBrown: When I was working at an Indian Dealership a few years ago, we had several guys complain about the amount of vibration their (stock Indian) 88 cube S&S engines were producing. A swap to a Viper Plus cam from Mid-USA, which was a larger cam, smoothed the bikes right out. The other 107 owner you speak of, does he have different gearing? This might shift the range of vibration to a different speed range, making it more difficult to notice. Just some food for thought.

Thanks for the answers.I guess I forgot I was in the "classic" Softail forum.i`m new and at Iirst I was in the Softail section and wondered,"What about Evos?"I thought I saw alot of talk about Ultima motors there, too.i`m still not too familiar with this site.
It`s funny i never heard of Ultima motors.Where the heck did they pop up from? That`s great that they stand behind their products.Kinda have to when you`re the new kid on the block building complete motors. They`ll have to build motors a long time before I ever consider one.I tend to stick with the tried and true and stay away from upstarts.Especially a complete motor.

I had a lot less trouble with my ultima motor than I did with my S&S motor besides the ultima runs much better has more power uses less oil, doesn't even mist out of the breather and for the price I paid for the S&S motor I can buy over 2 of the 127's and treat one as a throw away. You notice the only negative comments are from the guys that don't actually "own" and ride an ultima engine the rest of us are happy with them.

Why so testy? You`re right,I don`t own one.As I said,I never even heard of them before.I don`t know what negative comment you mean.I was speaking for myself.I need to see things around for a long time and hear alot of good about them before I try them,if I ever even need a complete motor again.I felt the same about Revtec and, even though I haven`t heard anything bad,I still don`t want one.
What I get from what you are saying is the Ultimas cost alot less than other motors? That`s a plus.I`ve bought and built some motors and it sure gets exensive.I am currently running a S&S motor and am real happy with it.I don`t know how a simular motor could run any better,it doesn`t use oil,and no mist from the breather.

Ultima engines are not for everyone, and some people have not had good luck with their purchases. However, even owners of S&S products can have an occasional problems.

I like to read the CVO forums because they run 110" Harleys and have a lot of good information on exhaust systems - it seems to be the semi-official web site for Fullsac exhaust systems, and Steve posts there regularly describing the things he is experimenting with. Recently a fellow on CVO forums in the EVO section posted about some problems he was having with his S&S engine:

Pajoe, My bike was in the shop for 5 1/2 months. I called my mechanic every week ( who is a very well known S&S specialist and one their authorized warranty repair centers). Initially he established that I was covered for all my work under warranty by S&S, but he wanted me to have contact with him and not S&S. Finally after he got frustrated by S&S lack of action. He told me to call them. I told them what my feelings were in a professional manner(however I was cussing on the inside the whole time I was talking to them) and within one week they sent out a crate to my mechanic so he could pull the engine and send it back to the factory. That whole process still took another 6 weeks between sending it back, getting it completely rebuilt down to truing the crank and sent back to my mechanic for installation. Then of course the S&S "expert" who did my engine forgot to tighten the jam nuts on the rear cylinder pushrods so It quit on my after 84 miles and I had to take it back in (63 miles away) to have it readjusted.I would never buy another one of their products. However, my bike runs good and it does vibrate a little, but not a cruising speeds. I have a six speed and with a 31 tooth front pulley and I feel this is a good combo. Thanks for your interest. It's unfortunate that anyone would have their bike down for 5 1/2 months waiting for repairs, hopefully I will never have to wait that long. Once again, I am not suggesting this is normal for S&S products, only that some times bad things can happen even with the most well known brand name products.
