Ultima 107" motor on a 90 model Bagger

Jireh http://www.jirehcycles.com/ sells Ultima engines at a reasonable price, I think it's the same price for NON-EPA as well as EPA approved 100" to 120".
The NON-EPA has a 12 month warranty and the EPA has a 24 month warranty but I was told Ultima is much more forgiving with the NON-EPA motors, and it appears many guys are getting free replacement parts long after the warranty expires. More recently a fellow on the Harley tech talk forums posted he just got free replacement parts for an Ultima engine purchased in 2007.

It`s funny i never heard of Ultima motors.Where the heck did they pop up from? That`s great that they stand behind their products.Kinda have to when you`re the new kid on the block building complete motors. They`ll have to build motors a long time before I ever consider one.I tend to stick with the tried and true and stay away from upstarts.Especially a complete motor.

What I get from what you are saying is the Ultimas cost alot less than other motors? That`s a plus.I`ve bought and built some motors and it sure gets exensive.I am currently running a S&S motor and am real happy with it.I don`t know how a simular motor could run any better,it doesn`t use oil,and no mist from the breather.
I like to read the CVO forums because they run 110" Harleys and have a lot of good information on exhaust systems - it seems to be the semi-official web site for Fullsac exhaust systems, and Steve posts there regularly describing the things he is experimenting with. Recently a fellow on CVO forums in the EVO section posted about some problems he was having with his S&S engine:

Pajoe, My bike was in the shop for 5 1/2 months. I called my mechanic every week ( who is a very well known S&S specialist and one their authorized warranty repair centers). Initially he established that I was covered for all my work under warranty by S&S, but he wanted me to have contact with him and not S&S. Finally after he got frustrated by S&S lack of action. He told me to call them. I told them what my feelings were in a professional manner(however I was cussing on the inside the whole time I was talking to them) and within one week they sent out a crate to my mechanic so he could pull the engine and send it back to the factory. That whole process still took another 6 weeks between sending it back, getting it completely rebuilt down to truing the crank and sent back to my mechanic for installation. Then of course the S&S "expert" who did my engine forgot to tighten the jam nuts on the rear cylinder pushrods so It quit on my after 84 miles and I had to take it back in (63 miles away) to have it readjusted.I would never buy another one of their products. However, my bike runs good and it does vibrate a little, but not a cruising speeds. I have a six speed and with a 31 tooth front pulley and I feel this is a good combo. Thanks for your interest. It's unfortunate that anyone would have their bike down for 5 1/2 months waiting for repairs, hopefully I will never have to wait that long. Once again, I am not suggesting this is normal for S&S products, only that some times bad things can happen even with the most well known brand name products.
