It's easy to have a bad experiance when you have people involved, sorry if It sounded testy (it wasn't meant that way) if you go back through this thread and some others it seems there are quite a few negative comments about the Ultima motor "which cannot be as good as some other brands as it's half the price" but generally these comments are by non Ultima owners or someone selling the other brand. The reason I started the thread about ultima owners and their experiances is so we had a place to come together and share ideas that work. Can't comment on the Rev tech motor as I have not owned one but do have an S&S 110" motor as well as a 96"and 84" before that.

This might shift the range of vibration to a different speed range, making it more difficult to notice. Just some food for thought.
Thanks for that, I'll go check out Viper. The other 107 guy has the ordinary S&S ignition system, while I have the IST, with anti-knock sensors and other stuff not on the ordinary one. I have heard elsewhere that IST has form with vibration!. Either mine is getting smoother, or I am getting used to it!

I know starters have been mentioned somewhere in this thread. Pajoe i think mention ultima starter he is using, i have a spyke 1.4kw that just quit. solenoid isnt pulling in. i have power to the starter when i press the start button, but no response. is there any sense in trying to fix or just buy another ! i am going to pull it off and see what i see. but, what starter would yall suggest, anyone using a stock starter ? i think i have one laying around somewhere. any comments , suggestions ? thanks.

pull that one and get an Ultima 1.4 they have the pushbutton on the end. Then drop the spyke off at your local rebuilders along with a pushbutton solenoid cover, have it rebuilt (usually under $80) for a spare.

The Ultima 1.4 that I purchased did not have a push button on the end, I had to add that myself. However, I don't think the push button is very helpful, it is nice if you want to turn over the engine with the ignition off.

You will love it if : your solenoid gets weak, your starter button acts up, your relay decides not to relay, or any type of wiring problem in that circuit. It's one sure way to take care of the dreaded "click"" that some baggers get every now and then.

+1 on the pushbutton. My Ultima 1.4 came with it.

My handlebar switch crapped out over the summer. Not sure what happened but haven't felt like pulling it all apart to find the problem.

Push button on the starter works great and slightly increases the cool factor. (not as cool as kicker though<G>)

Perhaps Ultima changed the models, but in the printed 2009 catalog the manual push
button is included with the 1.7 and up models. I went with the 1.4 because the 1.7
was 3/4" longer. I ordered mine 11/16/2007 Jireh #70-222 @ 119.95 and as
previously posted, it did not have the manual push button. If you choose that model
you may want to confirm it has the manual push button.

while most of the stuff in the Jireh catalog is the same as the Midwest/Ultima catalog, there are a few differences. Perhaps this is one.

Thanks John, Pajoe and all,

The ultima was my choice also. i will confirm the push button when i order. my spike has the button that i installed myself. it makes it convenient on my bros not to have to push the old man off to crank bike. the button is the reason i havent pulled the starter already. i can still start the bike and ride no problem....
