I put in the 2KW ultima starter, this is on a soft tail it was a bit tight but fits ok. Just make sure you change to larger leads and at least a 300amp battery. It works great, previous to that I changed to the 66/9 tooth gears on the clutch hub and pinion as the finer teeth of the 101 gearset just rips out if it kicks back on you, they are not strong enough.

Default Ultima 107"

I read most of the original posts on the 107 on a 90 Bagger.

I am almost ready to pull the trigger on the 107, to put in my 97 RoadKing.

I am looking for updates by those who own the Ultimas, especially the 107

I am looking for comparisons between the 100, 107 and 113.

I live in Canada. I ride as much as possible from snow melt to snow fall.... just under 20,000 miles last year.

I got put off by stories of problems with Ultimas and bought an S&S 107 instead. Cost more, but came with a three year warranty and has done 8k miles so far, including a 2.5k tour of Europe.

cant argue about S&S,their quality is second to none, but ive got a 127" ULTIMA in my `97 bagger, works good,no big probs.is your 107" a crate motor,or did someone assemble it?

It's a stock V107T, came complete ready to run, with carb and ignition, automatic decompressors etc.

Default 107 Ultima

I understand the S&S decision, however my math tells me that the extra cost is basically buying an extended warranty.

I could almost buy two Ultima 107s for the price of a 107 S&S.

If I choose to upgrade/freshen the orginal evolution engine, and try to increase it by increasing bore, there is the risk of thinnning out the casings too much, and Ive heard of one bored to a 96 cracking.

So in my mind, the only other safe and cost effective option for more than 90hp is to go Ultima.

Which is why i posted the question.... looking for Ultima users, and their longer term experiences at the 100 to 113 size. I wanted to know which one to go with.

A guy I know who built custom bikes used them all the time, his fear with the 113, is the longer stroke which can cause issues longer term.

I am looking for one that I can put 15,000 miles on per year.

I had a 110 S&S before I got the 127 Ultima I much prefer the Ultima in the way it runs, starts, vibration, oil control. The 110 is 4 3/8" stroke 4" bore the Ultima is 4 1/4 bore, 4 1/2" stroke. I ran a 96" shovel with a 4 5/8" stroke for many years and had no trouble with it (except tires) as it was abused daily. The 120" Ultima might be a better choice as it has a 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 so with a shorter stroke and lower piston speed it should last longer.

Buy a Ultima, best bang for the buck, follow the breakin procedures, use their oil too, then run it like you stole it.. They have awsome horse power, but if you install 2into 1 Vance and Hines pipes, hang on, another world , warp speed opens up...

Well now we are gonna see whats up. Budy o mine putting in a 107 S&S, and Im pulled the trigger on the Ultima 107..... Can't wait till spring... or might to do a little drive south..... I know what he's got in his... but he thinks I'm putting in Stage 3 to get to 90ish hp.... I'm dressing it the same... so it'll be a sleeper.. .till he asks me to race.... By the way, putting in an Ultima cost me the same as doing the Stage 3 right.
